Ready Mix Concrete FAQ

One way to determine this is by outlining some of the following details,

  1. What will the concrete be used for?
  2. What colour and/or type of concrete do I want?
  3. What sort of environmental factors will the concrete be exposed to?

To determine the right mix for you, speak to your professional supplier or contractor by asking these questions.

You simply measure x3 dimensions and multiply them to give you your quantities. Length (L) x Width (W) x Height/Depth (D) = Volume (m3)

Concrete is always measured in cubic meters (m3)

Prior to receiving your concrete delivery, you need to ensure you have the area prepped adequately. Ensure formwork is inspected & appropriate, steel and plastic (if required) lay in place and tools to work with and finish the concrete are all on hand.

Concrete typically takes 24-48 hours to dry enough to touch with pressure/walk or drive on. However concrete will begin its curing process as soon as it has exposure to air, every hour after this exposure with increased curing time. Concrete will reach full effective strength after approximately 28 days. Within these 28 days a number of environmental factors can vary the curing time process.

Concrete is indeed recyclable and has great economic and environmental benefits in doing so. Concrete can be reused and recycled into other materials which conserves landfill space and significantly reduces the carbon footprint of manufacturing new cement.
